When I officially launched this site (and my design business), I decided to create most of my social media accounts from scratch. My personal profiles weren’t quite in alignment with my new business and I wanted my social presence to reflect my brand. But, man does it hurt going all the way back to the beginning with very few followers. Like under 50 on Instagram. Eeeeeek!
I know I’ll get my numbers up again, but as you know, it takes a lot of planning and consistent posting to grow your following. Unless you have a huge social circle, getting found online is a challenge. Having killer visuals is only half the battle. Your content also must be tagged, otherwise it will go unnoticed. Especially in the beginning when there are fewer eyes on your posts.
Finding relevant hashtags is a time-consuming process. Luckily, I’ve done the research for you, compiling a hashtag database to boost your reach. These 300+ hashtags are separated into the following categories:
- Illustration & Art
- Entrepreneur/Girl Boss
If the thought of typing all these hashtags every time you decide to post sounds overwhelming, don’t despair. I have an awesome hack that will allow you to add all relevant hashtags to your posts in a few easy steps!
Your first option would be to simply open my spreadsheet of hashtags on your mobile device, and then copy/paste them into your post. Easy peasy!
But the best way would be to add the clump of hashtags as a keyboard shortcut on your iPhone. Here are the steps:
How to add add hashtags as an iPhone keyboard shortcut
- Open Settings > General> Keyboard > Shortcuts
- Tap the plus sign
- Name the shortcut something short. Make sure you don’t use a common word!
- Type or copy/paste your hashtags
- Hit save
And viola! Now you don’t have to waste your time manually typing each and every hashtag on your teeny tiny keyboard. Simply type the shortcut in any text box on your iPhone, followed by a space and your pre-saved text will magically appear.
Now remember, only 30 #hashtags can be used on a single photo on Instagram so keep that in mind when you create your shortcuts.
What are you favorite hashtags?
